Episode 98 Transcript – Real Estate shopping? Take notes
Hello there! You’re live with Jessi Johnson and Janakie almost Johnson. [Uh no.] Singham-Johnson? [Singham.] We are in, where are we? Gumusluk, Turkey. This tiny little quaint village which I’m going to show you in one second before I give my financial tidbit related to real estate. My blurp of the day today is when you’re searching for a home obviously you want to know what you’re looking for far in advance because there’s such an abundance of properties on the market. Especially right now because it’s a buyers market that you really need to know what you’re looking for and you want to define your search far in advance especially if you’re taking up the time of a realtor who makes zero dollars unless you make a purchase. My suggestion when you’re visiting open houses and going on tours is to take a camera with you or even a video camera if possible and take notes. It sounds so simple yet so many people do not do it. What happens at the end of the day, all these 20 or 30 properties you may have seen all seem to merge into one property and then you have no idea what you saw. Rating the properties is another idea as well on a scale of one, they suck, and ten as in “super bad”. I’m going to give you a little tour here. We’re currently standing on a tiny little island which is connected there. It is connected by about three feet deep of water and it’s a tiny little itty bitty fishing village. This is a little bay. There’s a whole whack of restaurants and shops down there. Well not many shops, mainly just restaurants where we are going to enjoy some fresh fish in a few minutes. On this side again another bay. They’ve got a few small resorts. This tiny little island is infested with bunnies. We figured out why is that they can’t go anywhere. I guess the tides, the water level must have been a lot lower and these bunnies are stuck here. It’s pretty funny. There are a few tourists from France we met. That sound in the background is prayer in the Muslim community. They pray 4 or 5 times a day I think. It’s pretty crazy. If you look down there. I don’t know how well you can see that but there’s actually a fenced area, a little wall and it’s a fake wall built in two small openings as a level of defense. Now here they’ve actually built this wall, this ancient wall anywhere from one or two thousand years old. The neat thing is this was used as a defense wall to defend from incoming attackers coming into the bay. Pretty cool. Pretty neat stuff. Another thing about this area, what this is is the Mediterranean, somewhere out there is Greece I believe, it’s full of these little uninhabited islands. As you can see by all the homes here up in the far end that they look like they are obviously very well organized but apparently the government has cut off development. So we’ve got tons and tons of potential real estate in here. Tons of people that could be buying, acquiring mortgages but they’ve cut them off. It’s a good thing in some spots, some spots no. Give you a full panoramic here without falling. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Say goodbye. You can reach me at www.firsthomeinfo.ca or www.jessijohnson.ca and remember, own your life.
