Episode 101 Transcript – Thor Diakow from Breakfast Television
Hello there! You’re live with Jessi Johnson and please speak your name and occupation. [I'm Thor Diakow, the entertainment guru from Breakfast Television, CityTV, Vancouver.] Nice plug. We’re here at CityTV/Omni Fall what do you call it? [It's our launch basically.] It’s a launch. [We promote the programs coming up, talk a bit about BT and all the great programs we have on City and BT. Just an event for people to schmooze and have free drinks. You can't go wrong with that.] My blog today is not real estate related at all. I just wanted to get you on. Every morning when I wake up I watch Breakfast Television. [Nice!] I’d say about 85 to 90% of the time. I really enjoy it because I can wake up in the morning and laugh and get the news at the same time. It’s great programming but it’s a little laid back, a tiny little bit. Makes it feel like a family atmosphere. Tell us about the show. What time is it on? [We're on from 6 to 10am, Monday to Friday. It's mornings mind you so you need to get up early. It's a four hour show so you can pretty much catch it at any time you're getting up in the morning. CityTV Channel 13 in the Vancouver area. Check it out. We're always trying to have fun. It's live so there's always something crazy happening. You never know what is going to go on.] You ever had the snakes on the show? [Oh yeah! Totally. Sometimes we just roll with the punches like that and say hey, we all have fun, it's very intimate. That's what we strive to be. A community oriented, family kind of vibe and we just want to bring people into it.] The fact that it’s live do you make an error? [People like it. Oh yeah it's real. It's like this video blog.] It’s authentic, it’s real. [Totally. It's very raw. We've actually built a segment into one of my entertainment chats called "Can I get a Mulligan". Whenever I report something inaccurate in the entertainment world, the next day or later in the show I'll say "Can I get a mulligan, I need to redo that one" and I make good on it.] That’s awesome. So the show itself, three hours a day. It’s awesome. [Four hours! 6 to 10, it's crazy man!] Didn’t I say four? [I think you said three. It's OK, the drinks are working.] If people want to follow you, you’re on Twitter right? [Go to twitter @thordiakow. You can just Google it, you'll find me and don't stalk me.] Yeah, no stalkers. [Actually, you can stalk me. I can use the attention.] Attention’s good. www.firsthomeinfo.ca for me. [Go to www.breakfasttelevision.ca. It explains it all there.] It’s actually a video camera, say hi. {Hey, how’s it going?} Thank you very much. It’s been a pleasure. One more thing, can I put you on the spot here? I’m on Omni, I’m trying to get on CityTV. I’m trying to bug you guys about interviewing me. Would you consider it? [We would indeed. Totally! Just find an angle and we'll get you on there.] OK, cool. Goodnight! Bye.
